As Karnataka dispersed from the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Mumbai players sat down at Adigas, the famous south Indian eatery in the stadium premises. They were not at all in a mood to celebrate Shardul Thakur becoming the leading wicket-taker of the season. They just wanted to put a shambolic day with the bat behind them. They had been bundled out for 44, Mumbai’s second-lowest total in first-class cricket.As has been the case throughout the season, Mumbai’s batting crumbled under pressure, leaving themselves with too much to do while batting fourth on a difficult wicket. This was, in fact, the seventh batting collapse of the season for Mumbai. And it was the worst of them all. The captain Aditya Tare had no qualms admitting it.”We have had a bad day as you can see. Getting all out in 15 overs is not acceptable by any means, especially at this stage of the tournament. But yeah, we have had off days in the entire season. The best thing is how we come out of it. We have to look up to that first,” Tare said.Tare, however, was also quick to point out the umpiring howlers which he and his team-mates were at the end of. While Robin Uthappa was adjudged not out early in the day by umpire Vineet Kulkarni when he was plumb in front, the same umpire ruled Tare caught behind when the ball didn’t hit anything on the way to wicketkeeper CM Gautam.Nayar cleared of serious injury

Abhishek Nayar will spend a night in the hospital after falling awkwardly on his head while chasing a ball in his follow-through. Though the bowler is cleared of any special damage, he will be monitored for 24 hours before being released.
During the 52nd over of the innings, Vinay Kumar dabbed Nayar on the off-side and took off for a single. Nayar ran towards the ball and fell on his head while trying to flick it towards the stump. Though he completed the over after receiving medical attention, he was getting blackouts soon after exiting the field. He was then rushed to the hospital for scans.
“The player was admitted to our hospital this afternoon after complaining of headache and vomiting. He has a concussive head injury. The brain and cervical scans are normal, so there is nothing to worry. He is in the ICU for a 24-hour observation,” Ajit Benedict Ryan, the vice president of Hosmat Hospital, said.

“Things haven’t gone in our favour as well. Robin [Uthappa] was plumb in front, they would have been 30 for 3 and probably [we would have bowled them out for] 100-150, you never know. I wasn’t out and from there, it completely changed. The momentum completely swung,” Tare said. “And Mumbai have been suffering from bad decisions throughout the last two-three years. But it’s part of the game, we have to accept it. But we still have four more days.”Tare’s Karnataka counterpart, Vinay Kumar, was, as expected, thrilled with the effort of his boys. Vinay, who lead from the front with a six-wicket haul, admitted they hadn’t expected to run through the Mumbai side.”The cracks were a bit open in the morning itself, which is why elected to bat first. Batting fourth would be very difficult on this wicket. [After getting bowled out for 202] we tried to bowl in the right areas, we were planning to get five-six wickets, we were lucky enough to get them all out,” Vinay said.Despite being dejected, Tare stressed on the excellent work of Karnataka’s pace triumvirate of Vinay, Abhimanyu Mithun and S Aravind.”We just wanted play normally, as if we were batting in the first innings. We had no target in our mind. We knew that there are lots of cracks on the pith and obviously, it will do a bit,” he said. “You can’t take away credit from them. They have got three bowlers with 30-plus wickets in the season, so they have a bowling unit which is in tremendous form. You can’t take away credit from them.”While Vinay was thrilled to have bowled Mumbai out for their lowest total against Karnataka, Tare found it difficult to deal with the fact that Mumbai had been bundled out for only their third sub-50 total. “That’s a record I can’t be proud of for sure but obviously we will look to bounce back for sure.”

– Bons jogadores, aqui jogamos de igual para igual, poderíamos ter ampliado o resultado, e lá jogamos muito mal, eles foram felizes e ganharam o jogo. Jogo de 180 minutos e eles foram melhores – finalizou Andrés.

Eliminado da Sul-Americana, o Corinthians volta a campo no próximo domingo, às 11h, para enfrentar o Vasco em Itaquera. O jogo é válido pela 22ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro e a equipe do técnico Fábio Carille tenta voltar ao grupo dos quatro primeiros colocados da principal competição do país.

The Supreme Court has asked sidelined BCCI president N Srinivasan to explain why he had chaired the board’s working committee meeting and submit it by February 27.”We are not happy with N Srinivasan,” the Apex Court said. “He should understand the spirit of our order. His position after this judgement is vulnerable. He should not have presided over the working committee meeting.”This was in response to Aditya Verma, the petitioner in the IPL corruption case, questioning Srinivasan’s presence at the meeting.Kapil Sibal, Srinivasan’s lawyer, argued the interim orders given first on and March 28 and then on May 16 last year had stated that Srinivasan had to step aside as BCCI president until the investigation into the IPL corruption case was completed. Now that the probe was over, Sibal said, Srinivasan could attend the board’s meetings.But Nalini Chidambaram, CAB legal counsel, highlighted the fact that there was no time limit imposed in the interim orders and that final order in January was a “declaratory judgment” that disqualified Srinivsan from holding the post of president because of conflict of interest.

Jogando dentro de casa tem que ser agressivo, competir mais. Acho que isso faltou para nós no último jogo. Lógico, não quero tirar os méritos da equipe adversária que foi muito bem. Quero dar os méritos a eles por essa partida – concluiu Love.

Pressionado, o Timão volta a campo sábado, 19h, para enfrentar o Bahia pela 20ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. Fiquei sabendo hoje. Não procuro me estender nesse tipo de assunto. Acho que as pessoas fantasiam algumas coisas. Cobrança é para todos, estamos todos em busca dos mesmos objetivos. Se o Carille citou o Mateus e o Pedrinho, eles não jogam sozinhos. Todos nós fizemos um jogo ruim e por isso perdemos de 2 a 0 jogando na nossa casa. A culpa é de todos, não é de um ou de outro. Não vejo o motivo de cobrar alguns jogadores. Não escutei a declaração deles. Tenho certeza que isso foi muito bem administrado entre as partes. Temos um convívio muito bom aqui dentro e todos nos respeitamos aqui dentro.

Corinthians jogará com time misto contra o Bahia?
Vai depender do Carille. Vai ter uma avaliação da parte médica. O Carille vai escalar a melhor equipe para fazermos um bom jogo amanhã.

É possível reverter o resultado na Copa Sul-Americana?
Temos jogos no futebol que nunca imaginamos que a situação possa ser revertida. Esse ano mesmo o Barcelona levou uma virada do Liverpool na Champions League. O futebol te dá esse momento de virar situações que algumas pessoas não acreditam. Pela minha experiência, por estar no Corinthians, acredito muito nessa classificação.

Houve algum tipo de conversa após a derrota para o Del Valle?
Conversamos bastante sobre o que pensamos, sobre o que achamos. Algumas coisas ficarão entre a gente, mas algumas a gente pode falar. Uma delas é a cobrança. A gente está conversando sobre a nossa atitude. Sabemos que fizemos jogos ruins.

Queda de rendimento após uma série de 14 de jogos de invencibilidade
Já tinha falado isso depois do jogo contra o Fluminense. Quando a gente perde temos que assimilar algumas coisas. O que fizemos de errado contra o Fluminense, contra o Del Valle, temos que melhorar. É nessas horas que a cresce em questão de coletivo, de grupo. de fazer coisas melhores para voltar a vencer. A gente sente as últimas derrotas, sabemos que não apresentamos um bom futebol, mas é momento de nos unirmos para que possamos voltar a vencer e fazer bons jogos para termos uma boa reta final de campeonato.

Corinthians precisa mudar sua postura tática?
Sobre a questão tática, não acho que tenha que mudar. Criamos uma maneira de se jogar. No meu modo de ver, o Corinthians sempre foi uma equipe, nos últimos anos, que se defende bem. Acho que o clube tem uma identidade de se defender bem, de sair muitas vezes no contra-ataque. Foi assim que o time foi campeão e não acho que o Corinthians tenha que mudar sua identidade, sua maneira. Ganhamos o Paulista assim e acredito que temos chance de sermos campeões assim.

Sobre quão difícil vai ser o Corinthians ter um time ofensivo parecido com o de 2005, quando terminou a temporada campeão brasileiro
Não sei se será difícil, mas ia citar aquele ano de 2015. Se você for citar aquele ano fomos eliminados do Paulista, Copa do Brasil e Copa Libertadores precocemente. Sabíamos que tínhamos condições. Naquela época os jogadores, principalmente os do meio de campo, estavam em grande fase. Cada ano é uma situação diferente. Esse ano tínhamos mais de 15 jogadores contratados e isso dificulta o trabalho do treinador. Esse ano de 2019 tivemos as dificuldades e conseguimos conquistar o Campeonato Paulista, isso mostra a evolução que o Corinthians teve nesse ano.

Qual postura o Corinthians deve ter contra o Bahia?
Temos que ser agressivos, temos que ir em busca do resultado, jogar para frente. Amanhã temos um jogo importante contra o Bahia e depois pensaremos na quarta-feira.

Sobre queda brusca de rendimento e sobre possíveis culpados
Não porque tivemos melhorias significativas depois da parada da Copa América. Tivemos um tempo para trabalhar e o Carille conseguiu fazer com que a gente melhorasse em vários aspectos. A cobrança não pode ser só em cima do Carille, tem que ser em cima de todos. Errou o Carille e erramos nós jogadores. É 50% culpa dele e 50% culpa nossa.

Big playersLasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard and Corey Anderson can walk into nearly any T20 side in the world. For Mumbai, their impact was best seen last season when the team bounced back after a stuttering start to their campaign. While Malinga and Pollard have been with Mumbai since their IPL debuts in 2009 and 2010, respectively, Anderson made his maiden season memorable with his heroics with the bat in the last league match against Royals. The three players have had different experiences over the last year. Anderson played a key role in New Zealand’s World Cup campaign but Malinga and Pollard have had troubles. Hampered by injury, Malinga hasn’t been as effective in ODIs as he is in T20s, while Pollard will be keen to make a statement after being dropped from the West Indies ODI side for the tour to South Africa and the World Cup.Add Rohit to the mix and Mumbai’s perennial claim of being one of the favourites appears strong. Rohit is the second-highest run-getter in the IPL, after Suresh Raina, and is a proven match-winner in T20 cricket.Bargain buyAiden Blizzard set the Big Bash League ablaze with his power-hitting, paving the way for a recall into the Mumbai line-up after a two-year gap. كان أرنولد، صاحب الـ32 عامًا، قد تم اتهامه بالتسبب في مضايقة “إزعاج /ضيق عنصري”، وفي الشهر الماضي أدانته هيئة المحلفين بالإجماع بتهمة الإساءة العنصرية إلى فرديناند في محكمة ولفرهامبتون كراون.

وحسبما ذكرت شبكة “سكاي سبورتس” العالمية، فإن المحكمة أصدرت قرارها اليوم ضد جيمي أرنولد، بالسجن لمدة 5 أشهر بسبب تلك الجريمة، إلى جانب شهر آخر لخرق إدانة سابقة، والتي تضمنت أيضًا فعلًا عنصريًا.

ليس هذا فقط، بل حُظر أرنولد من التواجد في كافة مباريات كرة القدم داخل المملكة المتحدة وخارجها لمدة سبع سنوات، وهو الحكم الأقسى على الإطلاق ضد مشجع بتهمة إدانة عنصرية.

تعود الواقعة إلى 23 مايو 2021، عندما كان فرديناند يعمل محللًا في قناة “BT Sport” يغطي مباراة مانشستر يونايتد وولفرهامبتون على ملعب “مولينوكس”، وهي أول مباراة شهدت عودة المشجعين إلى الملعب بعد رفع قيود فيروس كورونا.

واحتفل فرديناند عندما سجل يونايتد هدفًا، ووجه أرنولد لفتة عنصرية صريحة إلى الناقد، أعقبها استخدام كلمة عنصرية صرخ بها ضد اللاعب السابق.

ولم يسمع فرديناند أو يرى الإساءة بنفسه، لكنه قال للمحكمة إنه شعر بالمرض والأسى عندما علم بما حدث.

O meia Diego e o atacante Lincoln são as baixas, mas já estão lesionados há mais tempo e ficaram no Rio de Janeiro dando sequência às recuperações. O Rubro-Negro não tem jogadores suspensos para o confronto desta quarta.

Na fase anterior, o Rubro-Negro eliminou o Internacional, grande adversário do Grêmio. Porém, por conta dos estilos de jogo distintos dos time de Odair Helmann e de Renato Gaúcho, Willian Arão afirma que Jesus já fez os ajustes.

– Algumas estratégias que usamos contra o Inter, podemos repetir. Mas são times com propostas diferentes, jogadores com características diferentes. Fazemos os ajustes para não termos surpresas – comentou o camisa 5 do Fla.

Desde a chegada de Jorge Jesus, em julho, o Flamengo aliou bom desempenho com resultados positivos, alcançado à semifinal da Libertadores e o primeiro lugar do Campeonato Brasileiro. A boa fase também passa pelo crescimento individual de alguns atletas sob o comando do português, como Willian Arão.

O camisa 5, antes criticado pela torcida, é titular incontestável na equipe do Flamengo, com o reconhecimento da Nação. Nesta quarta, Arão mais uma vez começará jogando. Questionado sobre sua função diante do Grêmio, o meio-campista despistou sobre quem formará o setor.

– Me sinto à vontade nas duas funções. Claro que muda um pouco o posicionamento, mas quero é estar dentro do campo. São grandes jogadores aqui. Estou muito tranquilo de jogar ao lado do Gerson ou do Piris – afirmou Arão, antes de avaliar o momento individual e a passagem pela Gávea:

– Em 2016, tive um grande ano, e em 2017, na minha visão, também. Em 2018 acho que menos, e vieram cobranças. É normal de qualquer profissão. Quando está bem, natural também exaltar. Eu nunca estou satisfeito, quero sempre evoluir.
