Sourav Ganguly will join the Mukul Mudgal-led committee that is probing allegations of corruption in the Indian Premier League, including the investigation of 13 individuals listed in a sealed envelope that was given to the Supreme Court after a preliminary inquiry.”We had requested Sourav Ganguly to join the IPL probe panel and he has agreed to join us in the investigations. I had telephoned Sourav and he confirmed about coming on board,” Mudgal told . “Since our committee member L Nageswara Rao was not present today, we couldn’t fix the date of our next meeting. We will let you know when the committee meets next.”The Mudgal committee was set up by the court in October last year to investigate the fixing allegations that arose during the IPL’s 2013 season. It had submitted its findings in February this year in a report that included a sealed envelope – to be seen only by the judges – with the names of 13 people who, the committee said, should be further investigated.The court asked the committee to continue its investigation of the individuals named in the sealed envelope and the committee was also given greater powers for its probe. In agreeing to continue the investigation, Justice Mudgal had listed specific organisations and individuals whose assistance he would require, which included a former India cricketer “of repute and integrity”.The committee, which is being assisted by former senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer BB Mishra, has been given all investigative powers, including search and seizure of relevant documents and recording evidence. However, it cannot carry out any arrests. The committee will also be provided with assistance from one senior police officer each from Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi, as requested and is expected to submit its report in a sealed envelope by the end of August.The case dates back to June 2013, when the Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) secretary Aditya Verma raised charges of a conflict of interest in BCCI’s original two-member inquiry panel for the IPL corruption issue. A Bombay High Court ruling later termed the probe panel “illegal”. The BCCI and the CAB filed petitions in the Supreme Court against this order, with the CAB contending that the Bombay High Court could have suggested a fresh mechanism to look into the corruption allegations.The Supreme Court then appointed a three-member committee, headed by former High Court judge Mukul Mudgal and comprising additional solicitor general L Nageswara Rao and Nilay Dutta to conduct an independent inquiry into the allegations of corruption against Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, India Cements, and Rajasthan Royals team owner Jaipur IPL Cricket Private Ltd, as well as with the larger mandate of allegations around betting and spot-fixing in IPL matches and the involvement of players.

The switch to T20 cricket brings a familiar look to West Indies. Their two-match series against New Zealand will mark Kieron Pollard’s return from a year-long injury break. Sunil Narine, who was sidelined from the Tests owing to IPL commitments, will take up national duty again. So will Samuel Badree, the no.1-ranked T20 bowler.All three players had been involved in the IPL, along with some of the New Zealand squad. Pollard had shared a dressing room with the big-hitting Corey Anderson at Mumbai Indians. Badree was a team-mate of the New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum at Chennai Super Kings and he believed the insights he had gained would come in handy.”Obviously Brendon McCullum is one of their key performers in this version,” Badree said. “I’ve been with him in the IPL at Chennai and I know him quite well. – Após a entorse no joelho esquerdo, o atleta Felipe Vizeu foi submetido a exames de imagem e foi constatada uma luxação patelar com ruptura do ligamento femoropatelar acrescida de uma lesão condral na região patelar. South Africa’s lone specialist spinner Imran Tahir went wicketless in the final innings, but that did not prevent them from wrapping up proceedings before tea to start Hashim Amla’s captaincy on a high in the country where they last lost an away Test series, in 2006.Kumar Sangakkara was the biggest obstacle in the visitors’ path, and he was dropped off Morkel, but gave away his wicket to a JP Duminy long hop to complete a perfect morning session for South Africa. Sri Lanka began the day on 110 for 1, 260 runs adrift of the target of 370. Sangakkara had come into the match with a record seven successive fifty-plus scores and had looked in no trouble in the first innings before chopping a pull on to his stumps off a wide delivery. He had purred his way to 58 on the fourth afternoon, and Kaushal Silva had defended and left superbly in an unbroken 96-run partnership. South Africa’s spinners had bowled too many boundary balls.The onus was on the fast bowlers on the fifth morning, and they promptly stepped up. Morkel hit Silva in the opening over and also beat him. Four balls later, Morkel had Sangakkara driving but de Kock put down a simpler chance. Sangakkara was on 65. Amla used his fast bowlers in short spells and Steyn and Morkel gave way to Vernon Philander and Tahir. The legspinner bowled with much better control than at any time in the match. But neither he nor Philander carried the threat Steyn and Morkel did. Tahir offered the inevitable full toss and Jayawardene deposited it over midwicket. Next ball, Sangakkara clipped Philander through midwicket for four more.Amla brought Morkel back immediately after drinks and the fast bowler had Jayawardene feathering the first ball following the break through to the keeper. Jayawardene had looked ultra-cautious during his 31-ball stay and it was a top delivery to nail him, holding the line just outside off.Morkel was given just two overs in that spell, and replaced with Duminy, who began with possibly one of the longest long hops ever. It was a half tracker that sat up way outside off stump, but Sangakkara picked out Amla at midwicket, the pull causing his downfall again. De Kock’s drop had cost South Africa just 11.Amla was on a roll now with the bowling changes. In came Steyn again. Thirimanne had tended to drive with an open face in the first innings too, and Steyn had him edging behind in his second over on return. Amla saw the chance to squeeze in another over from Morkel before lunch. Dinesh Chandimal was hurried on the hook by a bouncer and given caught behind by umpire Billy Bowden. Replays were not conclusive enough to prove there was no glove before the ball flicked the left sleeve, and Chandimal’s review was in vain.Sri Lanka had lost 5 for 40 in 18.2 overs, and Angelo Mathews had been left alone on the burning deck again. Like in the first innings, he fought. Like in the first innings, Rangana Herath fought with him briefly. South Africa could not bring down Mathews, but they eventually broke through at the other end.Sri Lanka sent out the injured Shaminda Eranga to bat for the second time in the match, but Morkel ended the match with two wickets in two balls.

Michael Lumb top-scored with 99 as Nottinghamshire fought back strongly on the second day against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.The visitors reached 384 for 8 at stumps, a first-innings lead of 124 with Lumb taking part in two of the three century partnerships posted during the day.Lumb faced 192 balls and hit 13 fours before edging Kyle Coetzer to wicketkeeper Adam Rossington, the 10th instance of a Nottinghamshire player to fall in the nineties this season. He shared in a stand of 133 with Riki Wessels, who made 71, and 106 with Chris Read before he fell for 59.After tea Ajmal Shahzad, with 65 not out ,and Luke Fletcher also profited against a tiring attack, putting on 114 for the eighth wicket as Notts enhanced their Championship credentials with a display of great character.Resuming from their overnight position of 38 for 4, still 222 behind, Notts produced the perfect response as Lumb and Wessels blunted the home attack during the morning session. The pair combined to create the county’s highest fifth-wicket stand of the season, with the only scare coming from the first ball of the day as Wessels nicked Mohammad Azharullah high over the slip cordon for four.It was Azharullah who eventually broke the stand, bowling Wessels just before lunch with a delivery that nipped back to clip the top of his off stump. Both registered their highest scores of the campaign, with Fletcher falling just before the close one run short of his fifty.The 25-year old was involved in some innocent by-play with Neil Wagner, the New Zealand international on debut for Northants. After sending a bouncer past the batsman’s ears Wagner went down and had a word with the 6ft 6in Fletcher whose response was a smile, followed by three consecutive boundaries to leave the bowler nursing figures of 0 for 101, following his first-day duck. Shahzad closed on 65 not out and with Andre Adams for company will look to strengthen Nottinghamshire’s position on the third morning.”I’d definitely have taken 99 at the start of the day, after the season I’ve had and especially in the position that we were in,” Lumb said. “I was pretty devastated to get out then though. It was a tricky situation at the start so when you work that hard it was a little disappointing not to get to a hundred.”Riki, Ready, Ajmal and Fletch all showed good fighting spirit and it’s set the game up nicely for us now.”Northants head coach David Ripley also praised the Notts batsmen for keeping their cool: “I thought we came out of the blocks well and put the ball in good areas. We were just looking for that edge. There was a little bit of playing and missing but quality batsmen aren’t going to be phased by that.
