Sri Lanka Cricket has revised its stance on ICL cricketers playing domestic cricket after a meeting with the sports minister Gamini Lokuge. The board clarified that the approval, given by the interim committee, to ICL players last week to play domestic matches was limited to the “upcoming Premier League Cricket Tournament 2008 only”.”All ICL contracted cricketers will not be permitted to represent teams at district, provincial and international level,” SLC said in a statement. On September 19, in an unexpected move, the SLC allowed five cricketers and an umpire, who had signed up for the unauthorised ICL in 2007, to take part in domestic cricket. Marvan Atapattu, the former Sri Lanka captain, Russel Arnold, Upul Chandana, Avishka Gunawardene, Saman Jayantha and umpire Ranmore Martinesz were the players who benefited from the decision. However, at the meeting, Lokuge stressed the importance of working together with the Indian board, which has had a close relationship with the SLC for a long time. The BCCI had expressed its disappointment at the news of lifitng of the ban on the ICL players.Lokuge also requested SLC’s interim committee to negotiate with the England board so that Sri Lanka’s IPL players can take part in the Twenty20 league next year. The tour, as of now, clashes with the IPL and Lokuge asked the committee to work out alternative dates and proceed with the tour. He is also yet to ratify Sri Lanka’s Twenty20 squad for the Canada Cup Four Nation 20/20 in Ontario from October 10 to 13.

Lancashire supporters were dancing on the outfield at Aigburth after their team completed a stunning turnaround, sealing a 70-run victory against Kent to give them a serious chance of avoiding relegation. The fans haven’t had much to cheer this season so their joy was understandable as Glen Chapple ripped through the visitors with a season-best of 6 for 40, bowling unchanged from the Pavilion End except for a break for lunch. It was a remarkable finish to a fluctuating contest played on a sporting, lively surface and the game lasted just 216.5 overs. In truth it offered too much for the bowlers, especially the seamers, but that made for compelling viewing and after the weather-ravaged summer the final weeks of the season are better for it. Outgrounds, too, have a habit of throwing up fascinating matches and Lancashire will now be grateful that they have played here rather than the usually flatter Championship surfaces of Old Trafford. The identity of Lancashire’s matchwinner won’t surprise many people. Chapple is the longest-surviving member of this team and was a vital cog in the successful sides of the late 1990s. Those days now seem a lifetime ago, but at least the club enter the final match of the season, against Somerset at Taunton, knowing survival is in their own hands. Depending on events at Scarborough a draw might even be enough. How quickly things can change. Two days ago Lancashire’s plight was being relayed over the PA system on the east coast to the predictable cheers of the Yorkshire fans. When Lancashire were rolled for 107 on the first day a swift demise was on the cards and when half the side were out yesterday, with a lead of just 34, the final outcome was a far-off thought. However, battling efforts down the order – notably from Chapple with 45 – extended the lead to 163 before Yasir Arafat closed the innings with three wickets in 10 balls. In the final outcome Kent’s match total of 76 extras also proved crucial.”It was a remarkable game of cricket,” said cricket manager Mike Watkinson. “We lose the toss on a damp pitch, get shot out for 100, but then battled like mad and to win by 70 runs in a match like this is amazing. I’m really proud of how the players approached the game.”We spoke that the new-ball had to work for us and had to rip the top-order out. We couldn’t have them 50 for none because they bat too deep and for once everything went out way,” he added. “The nature of the side with have, with the young Lancastrians, makes it very satisfying. For our guys to come up against experienced players from overseas and come out on top is a great effort.”As they had to Lancashire struck early, in the second over, when Oliver Newby bowled Joe Denly as the opener bagged a pair. Geraint Jones was again sent in at No.3, following his first-innings 91, but this time the tactic didn’t pay off as he pushed tentatively against Chapple as he set about his demolition.Robert Key lived a charmed life, watching the ball roll onto his stumps before he had scored and surviving a huge lbw appeal off Chapple, before he was given out caught behind off one that climbed. Key didn’t appear thrilled by the decision and Lancashire’s tails were up. Key was given a little send-off by the Lancashire supporters, who were starting to believe.Martin van Jaarsveld escaped a close shout off Chapple when he padded up to a straight one, but then deposited Newby over deep square-leg for six. He soon lost another partner, however, when Darren Stevens was brilliantly caught by Stuart Law, low to his left, at second slip as Chapple bagged his third. Justin Kemp then drove loosely to point to hand Smith his first wicket of the innings and Lancashire’s Mission Impossible was looking anything but.Shortly after lunch Chapple’s march through the order continued when he removed the key obstacle of van Jaarsveld, trapped lbw by one which came in late – a common dismissal over the three days. The lower-order couldn’t be expected to succeed where the top-order failed and after a few lusty blows Arafat got an inside-edge to give Chapple his fifth. Number six came swiftly when James Tredwell provided an outside-edge to Luke Sutton and by the end the colour of Chapple’s face was almost matching his hair.Tom Smith claimed the final two, reward for a probing spell that kept the pressure on and allowed Chapple to attack. The match ended with the 14th lbw decision and Lancashire’s players formed a mid-pitch huddle to celebrate a lifeline to their season. For Kent it was the familiar tale of coming up short and they are now in the relegation dogfight. Three days is clearly a long time in cricket.

Ricardo contra o The Strongest, Veríssimo contra o Santa Fe e agora tive a oportunidade contra o Sporting Cristal.

Why West Ham need Jonathan Bamba

West Ham United have an interest in signing Jonathan Bamba before next week’s transfer deadline…

What’s the word?

That’s according to the Express, who claim that the Irons could soon target the Lille midfielder as an alternative option to Jesse Lingard, who is yet to return to the London Stadium after a successful loan spell last season.

The 28-year-old seems likely to remain at Manchester United barring any late changes. Back in July, Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted that the England international was part of his plans for the 2021/22 season.

As a result, Bamba has emerged as a potential target capable of filling his void. It’s thought that the Ligue 1 champions value him in the region of £25m.

The Irons, however, will face competition from across Europe, with Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen also mooted with interest.

Imagine him & Antonio

Bamba played an integral role in Lille pipping big-spending Paris Saint-Germain to the title last season – as per Transfermarkt, he provided six goals and 11 assists, averaging a direct contribution every 176 minutes.

Whilst, via WhoScored, only two other players recorded a higher seasonal average than his 7.07. And throughout the season, he displayed phenomenal work rate playing on both flanks and through the middle, where he averaged 1.2 tackles on top of 1.7 key passes, 1.6 shots and 1.4 dribbles per outing.

It’s this level of creativity that suggests he could fill the gap left behind by Lingard, who provided nine goals and four assists in just half a season.

Indeed, Bamba was dubbed the “creative leader” of Lille by journalist Zach Lowry, having emerged from a side that once had Nicolas Pepe, Jonathan Ikone and Rafael Leao as their key talismen. He went onto claim that everything went through the former France U21 international, only further explaining just how crucial he was to their success.

The 5 foot 9 dynamo is also blessed with explosive pace, something that could help dominate many a Premier League defence, with the ‘hidden gem’ said to be ‘lightning-quick.’

You can only imagine the sort of damage that the presence of Bamba could do alongside Michail Antonio in the attack. The 31-year-old machine became West Ham’s record top-flight goalscorer this week and he would thrive even more with a creative protagonist like the Lille star next to him.

Hammers boss David Moyes could form a lethal and mouthwatering frontline with the addition of the £18m-rated sensation,

MacGill still hoping to play for New South Wales

Stuart MacGill has said that he remains keen to play for New South Wales this season despite his absence from the opening state and club games of the summer. MacGill retired from Test cricket in June and the timing of his departure from the national setup meant he was too late to secure a state contract, which raised doubts over his first-class future.New South Wales players and staff have said over the past month they did not know whether MacGill planned to play on and he had not been in contact for some time. MacGill has been filming a second series of his television wine show and he is still battling knee and wrist injuries that troubled him in the West Indies.”I have not quit cricket and I want to play for New South Wales,” MacGill told the this week. “The main reason I suggested in the Caribbean that I wanted to continue playing for New South Wales was because I am not ready to retire, cricket is the one thing that I can do that I am best at, all the wine shows in the world won’t replace bowling at Brad Hodge in the Sheffield Shield final.”MacGill said he was surprised the state squad did not seem to know of his plans. He said he spoke to the coach Matthew Mott to explain the situation in the lead-up to the season.”When I spoke to Motty, which was seven or eight weeks ago now, I said I would come and see him when I was finished with the show and fit,” MacGill said. “It’s not as if people are screaming out for me, the New South Wales team is very strong, the Australian team is in position, I am not letting somebody down by not being there and I think it will be me in my best interests to make sure that every stone has been turned over a couple of times before I decided that it’s all finished.”The Blues have no shortage of spinners to call on in MacGill’s absence; they have already used four slow bowlers in their opening two matches. However, they lost their first Sheffield Shield game of the summer and the youthful squad does lack experience, which MacGill, at 37 and with 184 first-class appearances behind him, would provide.”New South Wales has a strong squad and I know how hard they are training and I know they are in great shape for the season,” he said. “I am the farthest thing from their mind, they only need to think about what is in front of them at the moment and I am not playing club cricket. I have no intention of showing up half-baked or injured.”

West Ham United: Fans react to ExWHUemployee update

ExWHUemployee has given an update on the state of play regarding Kurt Zouma’s impending move from Chelsea to West Ham United on Twitter, stating that “the deal is close to being done”.

Of course, the 26-year-old defender was in inspired form for the Blues last campaign, managing to notch an impressive five goals in 36 appearances across the term [Transfermarkt].

Looking set to move on this summer, the Frenchman has been continuously linked with a move to West Ham, who have been keen on the 6 foot 3 ace since the start of August [Sky Sports].

Giving an update on the situation to his large audience on Twitter, ExWHUemployee stated the following: “I believe that talks regarding Zouma have been very positive over night. The quote I was given overnight is that the deal is very much alive (seeking further clarity on that) but knowing the source this means the deal is close to being done”.

Despite this positive update, it is understandable that loads of West Ham United fanatics took to social media to vent their frustration at the deal dragging on for so long, especially when the window is due to close in just a few days.

West Ham United fans react:

“It amazes me how it has always taken our club as long as it does to get a deal for a player ‘done’ when Man U for example bid for Ronaldo yesterday and he signed for them yesterday lol just feel because of how long we’re taken on Zouma, we won’t sign anyone else lol COYI”

Julio Cesar; Alessandro, Chicão, William e Roberto Carlos; Paulinho, Jucilei, Elias e Danilo; Iarley e Souza.
