Caleb Chukwuemeka is reportedly on his way to Aston Villa from Northampton Town, according to Daily Mail journalist Adrian Kajumba on Twitter.

Enjoying a breakthrough season at the Cobblers, the 19-year-old striker registered three goal contributions in 28 appearances, two goals and one assist [Transfermarkt].

Now, he looks to be close to making a move to the Midlands following recent claims.

Speaking to his social media audience in response to a story from the Mail, Kajumba stated: “This one progressing again after Villa had previous bid rejected. Spurs were keen too, along with others, but feeling now is that Caleb Chukwuemeka is heading to Villa to join his brother Carney.”

Should a deal be concluded for the Englishman, it is said that the potential link-up with his sibling may be a pivotal factor in him choosing to ply his trade at Villa Park [All Nigeria Soccer].

Villa are said to be well ahead in the race for his services moving into the latter stages of the transfer window.

When you’re paid £110k-per-week, some may say that you don’t need a break, but for Everton star Richarlison, he is surely in need of some love and care.

The Brazilian spent the last parts of the summer with his national team at the Tokyo Olympics, claiming gold and scoring five goals in the process.

However, the Toffees attacker has not had a proper pre-season and has now started the new Premier League campaign with successive 90-minute appearances under his belt.

He scored in the win over Southampton last week, but in the draw with Leeds United on Saturday, he was disappointing while playing in a more central role.

Everton came away from Elland Road with a 2-2 draw but, despite starring in the middle at the Olympics, Richarlison was abject in that position on Saturday.

It was wise of Rafa Benitez to experiment with it but this showed why the Spaniard needs to give Dominic Calvert-Lewin his space in that region.

Richarlison is at his best when he’s given license to run down the flanks but that didn’t happen this weekend as he struggled significantly in the offensive third. None of the shots the Brazilian took during his time on the field were on target, while all three of the dribbles he attempted were unsuccessful.

Beating his marker is usually the brightest aspect of the Everton star’s game, but it completely eluded him on this occasion.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old made just 11 passes. For context, only Seamus Coleman and Michael Keane made fewer passes during the course of the match among the Toffees’ starting XI.

Keane deserved criticism for his role in the opening Leeds goal but if someone in the final third deserved some flack, it was Richarlison, a man who surrendered possession 14 times – the third-worst tally by a Toffees player.

He also won only 21.4% of his defensive duels; a shoddy number for a player who can be so bullish on his day.

The task for Benitez now is to find the best way of mashing his attacking players together.

Demarai Gray wasn’t the most inspirational of signings this summer but he starred on Richarlison’s favoured left-hand side this weekend, scoring a goal during an impressive performance.

With that in mind, the Everton coaching staff must decide whether to move the Brazilian forward from his central role. On this evidence, they should think about making a change.

James Tomlinson continued a productive season with two wickets, Imran Tahir took his impressive tally to 35 in three games with three more scalps, and Mark Ramprakash – unbeaten on 55 – was left feeling he’d seen it all before. That’s because he has.Despite Ramprakash passing fifty for the fifth time in six innings (he has converted the others into hundreds) Surrey are still 160 short of saving the following on. Tahir, who has played a key role in rejuvenating Hampshire’s season, is finding some assistance from the pitch as well as the batsmen and Surrey’s escape route could rest with the weather. But even if it allows them to save the match, their season is beyond redemption.Hampshire declared on their overnight 480 for 8 after rain delayed the start until 2.15pm and there was early movement with the new ball.
