وخسر مانشستر سيتي أمام ريال مدريد بثلاثة أهداف مقابل هدف في إياب نصف نهائي دوري أبطال أوروبا، على ملعب سانتياجو برنابيو.

وكان مانشستر سيتي متقدمًا بهدف رياض محرز، حتى الدقيقة 90، حيث سجل ريال مدريد هدفين قبل اللجوء إلى الأشواط الإضافية حيث تمكن كريم بنزيما من تسجيل هدف الفوز من ركلة جزاء.

Noel Whelan has given his reaction following the release of Newcastle United’s arbitration statement.

The Lowdown: Statement released

Earlier this week, the St. James’ Park faithful released a statement on their official website asking for the upcoming arbitration process to be made public.

This is only possible if the Premier League agree to it as well, otherwise the process will remain confidential.

The Tyneside club also claimed that they have ‘nothing to hide’ with regards to the process, and even suggested that the top flight should have ‘no reason to be afraid of the public spotlight’, providing that they have acted ‘lawfully and properly’, and thus should be wanting to make it public too.

Whelan, who is now a pundit after playing as a striker for the likes of Leeds United and Coventry City, has since given his reaction to Football Insider after reading the statement, suggesting that the Premier League should have no reason not to accept the North East club’s request, but admitted that they do have a lot of power:

“You would only say things like that when you’ve got backup and you believe it.

“The club wouldn’t stand face to face with the Premier League. You wouldn’t out them and ask them to make it transparent otherwise.

“I’m sure they’ve got very good lawyers, Mike Ashley. They wouldn’t be calling them out if they weren’t brave enough and didn’t have the evidence to do that.

“They are the Premier League and they govern us.

“Whether Manchester United, Liverpool or Manchester City. They have the power. Huge power.

“I don’t see any way the Premier League cannot give somebody a reason or show them evidence on what they’re asking for.”

The Verdict: Premier League must compromise

The Premier League surely have to compromise and accept the Magpies’ request to make the process public if they have nothing to hide.

Both sides are clearly confident that they can gain a positive result from the arbitration case, and the top flight should show this by allowing it to be made public.

The hearing is set to be pivotal over the direction of where the takeover is heading, and if it goes in the favour of the Toon, then the takeover process can be accelerated, which would offer some light at the end of the tunnel.

The Premier League would have to give their full cooperation of course, and so NUFC will have to come to an agreement with them if results go their way.

At one point placed promisingly at 203 for three in their first innings, they lost five wickets for 34 runs, enabling Sri Lanka to take a vice-like grip on the game.After a 20-minute delay this morning because of rain, England began under grey skies in conditions far removed from those of the first two days. Butcher and Vaughan exchanged sharp singles, and the former also made the most of a legside delivery from Buddika, clipping it through midwicket. But the bowler extracted full retribution in his next over as the Surrey left-hander edged to third slip, where Jayawardene took a fine catch moving to his right.Hussain, after squeezing Buddika to the rope at third man, immediately took four more with the shot of the morning, rattling the boundary board at extra cover. As Buddika’s line wavered, he was dispatched through square leg to give Hussain three boundaries off three balls. Vaughan took two boundaries off consecutive overs from Vaas, the first squeezed between third slip and gully, the second a pedigree cover drive. A double change by Jayasuriya introduced the third left-armer, Ruchira Perera, whom Hussain greeted first with a perfectly-timed drive through long off, then with an exquisite cut backward of point. تحدث أمير مرتضى منصور المشرف على قطاع الكرة بنادي الزمالك، أنه بعد عودته إلى منصبه بالقلعة البيضاء لم يكن هناك وقت للانتقام، مشيرًا إلى أنه أخطأ بالإفصاح عن تصريح جيسفالدو فيريرا بشأن محمود شيكابالا.

وقال أمير في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر فضائية “أون تايم سبورتس” ببرنامج “جمهور التالتة”: “بعد عودتي وجدت أشياءً قائمة، وليس من الطبيعي أن أنسفها، كما أنه لم يكن هناك وقت للانتقام وسوء النوايا”.

وأضاف: “تعليمات مرتضى منصور كانت الاجتماع مع باتريس كارتيرون وتصفية الخلافات معه، وأبدينا حسن النوايا وقلت له (أنا ابن اليوم ولا أريد الحديث عن الأمور الماضية)”.

وكشف: “عقد كارتيرون كان مكتوبًا بطريقة غريبة لم أفهمها، إذ يوجد بند بأحقية فسخ تعاقده والحصول على قيمة العقد كاملًا 5 ملايين و700 ألف دولار حال تأخر راتبه 15 يومًا”.

وواصل: “كانت هناك استفزازات ومضايقات من كارتيرون، مثلًا اللاعب محمود شبانة كان غير مقيدًا في الفريق ولم يكن يحضر إلى النادي، قمت بفحص العقود وقلت لـ شبانة ماذا تريد قال أريد الخروج على سبيل الإعارة، واللاعب كان غير موجود على نظام اتحاد الكرة، فاتفقنا مع الاتحاد السكندري على ضم اللاعب لمدة 6 أشهر، وقتها كارتيرون أرسل لي بريد إلكتروني يقول لي إنني قمت بإعارة اللاعب دون الرجوع له، كان يريد أن يثبت حالة رغم أن اللاعب غير مقيد، هذا بجانب خطة هروبه التي أرسلها لي في رسالة صوتية بالخطأ”.

واستكمل: “فيريرا كان أولوية بالنسبة لنا، هو مدرسة كبيرة ونتعلم منه، أنا شخصيًا كنت أراه المدرب الأمثل لهذه المرحلة، هو (بروفيسور) في كرة القدم بشكل عام وليس على مستوى الفنيات فقط”.

واستطرد: “وارد أن أكون قد أخطأت بتصريحي أن فيريرا كان لا يريد شيكابالا، ولكن هذا الكلام حدث في 2014 ونحن الآن 2022، البرتغالي مدرب زكي جدًا، وشيكابالا يتعامل الآن على إنه قائد للفريق ويساند ويدعم، لكن في الولاية الأولى للمدرب البرتغالي كان عنده 27 عامًا ويعاني من أزمة مع سبورتينج لشبونة، لكن الآن كل ما يُقال بشأن أن فيريرا لا يرغب في حازم إمام أو شيكابالا أو يريد التعاقد مع باسم مرسي أقسم أنه لم يحدث”.

وأكد: “إذا الجماهير أو أعضاء الجمعية العمومية أرادوا أن أكون متواجدًا في يوم من الأيام كرئيس لنادي الزمالك سأفعلها، لكني لا أخطط لهذا الأمر، مسؤولية الزمالك كبيرة وبها تفاصيل كثيرة، ومرتضى منصور قادر على إدارة النادي”.

وشدد: “تتويج الأهلي على حساب الزمالك بدوري أبطال إفريقيا 2020 أعطاه دفعة معنوية كبيرة، ولا أرى أن بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا بعيدة عن الزمالك، كما أنني كنت أرى أنها ليست صعبة الموسم الحالي والسابق”.

وواصل: “الجهاز الفني والمشرف العام على الكرة سيجتمعان آخر الموسم لتقييم أمر عودة محمود جنش ومحمد صبحي، وهذه أزمة اتحاد الكرة مُطالب بحلها، لأنهم أعلنوا أن الموسم سينتهي 30 أغسطس، وعقود اللاعبين ستنتهي 30 يونيو، نحن راسلنا الاتحاد ومن المفترض أن يحمي الأندية”.

وأتم: “إذا ارتأت المنظومة الفنية أن رمضان صبحي سيكون مناسبًا للفريق سنتفاوض معه، وإذا احتجنا لاعبًا من الأهلي سنخاطب النادي، أراه أمرًا عاديًا، بالتأكيد هناك حساسية بين الأهلي والزمالك، ولكن هذا أمر طبيعي وارد أن يحدث”.

The Championship outfit have been linked with a move for 29-year-old forward Hugill following a Forest source’s reveal to Football Insider.

Nottingham Forest are ready to test the water with a bid for the striker, whilst they have placed stock in his proven goalscoring record in the Football League [Football Insider].

The Verdict: Hugill would add firepower to Forest’s attack

Hugill could conceivably add some firepower to the Reds’ attack as they seek improvement in 2021/22. Across his career, he has registered 82 goal contributions from 278 career appearances, with 71 goals and 11 assists [Transfermarkt].

Most recently, he helped his current employers Norwich to Championship promotion in 2020/21, making five goal contributions in 34 appearances, four goals and one assist [Transfermarkt].

His work can often go unnoticed , something which has been highlighted by his manager Daniel Farke, who stated that Hugill “thinks about the team more than he thinks about himself” in an interview in January 2021 [The PinkUn].

Farke has also described Hugill as a “role model” in recent times, something which is bound to please the City Ground faithful [The PinkUn].

Looking ahead to 2021/22, Nottingham Forest should look to seal the deal for the Canaries attacker before other clubs take an interest and swoop for him.

Da Espanha para a Itália. Depois de ter sua venda encaminhada para o Atlético de Madrid (ESP), o zagueiro Lyanco deve deixar o São Paulo para atuar pelo Torino (ITA). O clube italiano ofereceu mais do que os espanhois e pode levar o defensor já de imediato. A informação foi inicialmente publicada pelo site “Globoesporte.com”.

A negociação é dada como praticamente sacramentada no São Paulo. Pelo zagueiro, o Torino deve desembolsar6 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 20 milhões) mais 2 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 6,6 milhões) por performance. Caso a transação seja concretizada, o zagueiro pode viajar nos próximos dias à Itália para realizar exames médicos e já se ambientar. Ele só poderia atuar em junho, quando abre a janela de transferências na Europa.

O valor principal da venda corresponde praticamente ao montante desembolsado para comprar 50% dos direitos econômicos do argentino Lucas Pratto do Atlético-MG. A iminente venda de Lyanco foi uma das razões para o São Paulo ter investido no centroavante.

Lyanco tem dito que é permanecer no São Paulo para fazer história, mas já deu aval positivo para a negociação. Ele não foi inscrito na primeira fase do Campeonato Paulista e acredita que pode evoluir muito no futebol italiano. Ele também despertou interesse da Juventus (ITA), rival do Torino.

Lyanco chegou ao São Paulo em janeiro de 2015, contratado da base do Botafogo por R$ 800 mil. Completou sua formação em Cotia e foi promovido no mesmo ano. Ao todo, disputou 25 partidas pelo Tricolor e anotou um gol.

A zaga é o setor com maior número de jogadores no elenco do São Paulo. Além de Lyanco, o técnico Rogério Ceni conta com Maicon, Rodrigo Caio, Breno, Douglas,, Lugano e Lucão. No meio do ano, porém, existe a possibilidade de o clube vender Rodrigo Caio. O contrato de Lugano também acaba no meio do ano e, sem espaço, Lucão está inclinado a deixar o clube.

In an exclusive interview with The Transfer Tavern, former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer has backed Crystal Palace’s decision to appoint Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira as manager.

After talks with Nuno Espirito Santo and Lucien Favre, it looked like one of the two would end up in the Selhurst Park dugout.

However, Palace went on to have no success there, resulting in the south London club turning to Vieira.

The 45-year-old has had spells with Nice and New York City FC, but he is still a relatively inexperienced manager, making this appointment arguably a risk.

For Palmer, though, you need to give people chances, and he is delighted to see Steve Parish and the Palace board do just that with Vieira.

“How do you become a good manager? You have to give people the opportunity. You have to support them,” the ex-Leeds United player said.

“I think they’ve got the right set-up there and the right infrastructure to help somebody like Patrick Vieira to go on and be a successful manager.

“You’ve got to give these ex-players an opportunity and I’m pleased that Patrick has got this opportunity.”

It will definitely be interesting to see how Vieira gets on following his return to English football, though he faces a tough start to the season, as Palace travel to Stamford Bridge to take on European champions Chelsea in their first Premier League fixture.
