O Palmeiras tem três novidades na lista de relacionados para o jogo desta quinta-feira, contra o São Bernardo. Mina, Moisés e Barrios foram todos convocados pelo técnico Eduardo Baptista para o duelo válido pela terceira rodada do Campeonato Paulista.

O zagueiro colombiano e o camisa 10 fizeram trabalho físico individualizado por mais tempo na pré-temporada para prevenir lesões e por isso ainda não jogaram em 2017. Eles trabalham com o grupo desde a última semana, mas a princípio devem começar o jogo no Allianz Parque no banco de reservas.

O caso de Barrios é diferente. O atacante não foi relacionado contra o Ituano por perder dois treinos com o elenco – nesses dias ele fez atividades físicas. Na segunda, ele foi o destaque do jogo-treino contra o Nacional, quando fez dois gols e deu uma assistência.

O trabalho que definiu o time titular foi fechado por Eduardo Baptista no Allianz Parque. Sem Fabiano e Tchê Tchê, machucados, além de Egídio, vetado por dores musculares, o técnico pode fazer mudanças para o próximo duelo. Uma possível escalação tem: Fernando Prass; Jean, Edu Dracena, Vitor Hugo e Zé Roberto; Felipe Melo; Róger Guedes, Guerra, Raphael Veiga e Dudu; Willian.

O Verdão busca a recuperação depois do tropeço contra o Ituano, no domingo. Para o confronto, a torcida já comprou pouco mais de 19 mil ingressos.

Wolves are reportedly ‘willing to offer’ €40m (£34.4m) to sign Youssef En-Nesyri in the summer transfer window.

The Lowdown: Jimenez cover needed

The Midlands club definitely need to look at signing sufficient cover for Raul Jimenez for the 2021/22 season, given that the Mexican missed the majority of last term because of a head injury.

Young Fabio Silva was thrown in at the deep end in his absence, and so the Molineux club could do with some more experienced backup just in case Jimenez suffers another bad injury.

The Latest: En-Nesyri eyed

As per Spanish media outlet AS (via Sport Witness), Wolves are ‘willing to offer’ a transfer fee in the region of €40m (£34.4m) in order to sign En-Nesyri from Sevilla.

However, the Morocco international would prefer to stay at the La Liga club, although they would reportedly be willing to sell him if the financial need arises.

The Verdict: Sign

En-Nesyri is a proven scorer, having found the back of the net 24 times in 52 games across all competitions last season (Transfermarkt).

The striker has also received high praise in the past. Sky Sports’ Spanish football commentator Terry Gibson called him a ‘world-beater’ at times back in March, while La Liga expert Euan McTear recently described him as ‘a bit like Benzema’, implying that he is a centre-forward who is purely focused on scoring goals.

A fee of £34.4m is a lot of money for Wolves, with only Silva and Jimenez costing more than that amount for an incoming player in the club’s history, but En-Nesyri could well be the difference between them qualifying for European competition again next year and stalling to another bottom-half finish like in 2020/21.

An update has emerged regarding Manchester City’s interest in Chelsea defender Reece James.

What’s the talk?

According to The Athletic, the Premier League champions are interested in signing the right-back this summer as they look to strengthen their squad. James caught City’s eye in the Champions League final and now they want to add him to Pep Guardiola’s ranks in the coming months.

The report claims that City believe they could have a chance to land the 21-year-old because of Chelsea’s interest in Inter defender Achraf Hakimi.

After the Champions League final in May in which Chelsea defeated Pep Guardiola’s side, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand lauded the full-back for his “immense” performance that night. He told BT Sport, via Metro: “He’s a product of the youth academy and we’ve seen some people questioning him, for Chelsea and England.

“Well tonight he performed on the biggest stage and was the standout, he was immense.

“If you’re going to play at the top level you have to do that. Today he became a man. Today he answered all those questions.”

Pep would love him

Guardiola would surely love to have James at the Etihad Stadium and Txiki Begiristain must sanction a deal for the defender this summer if there is any chance of a move going through.  Txiki needs to act swiftly to open negotiations with Chelsea and gauge how likely a transfer is for James before any other clubs catch wind of his potential availability.

The England international could be a terrific addition to City’s squad and provide a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker at right-back, whilst giving Guardiola a young player to coach and develop. Walker is by no means at the end of his career, but the right-back turned 31 in May and is 10 years older than James.

The Manchester City man has been an excellent servant for the club over the years, with 184 competitive appearances since his switch from Tottenham in 2017. In that time, he has helped City win three Premier League titles, four League Cups and an FA Cup, highlighting how successful the team has been with him at right-back and why replacing him could prove a difficult task, with Joao Cancelo now excelling at left-back.

James, who is rated at £36m by Transfermarkt, enjoyed an impressive campaign with Chelsea in the Premier League. He averaged a WhoScored rating of 6.94 across 32 appearances whilst also receiving a score of 6.87 for his performances in the Champions League for the Blues.

This shows that the 21-year-old is already able to perform consistently at the top level despite his young age, so Guardiola would surely love him at City as, having seen firsthand the threat he can pose following the Champions League final, the youngster could be the club’s starting right-back for the next decade if all goes well.

According to a report by Calciomercato, West Ham United are eyeing Fiorentina defensive beast Nikola Milenkovic with the player’s agent, Fali Ramdani, even offering him around.

As per Claret & Hugh, West Ham are prioritising the acquisition of a new centre-half this summer alongside signing Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal and landing a star forward.

A handful of defenders have been linked to the Hammers in recent days, including the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu and Nikola Makismovic, with the list of names growing larger and larger.

As per Calciomercato, West Ham are also eyeing colossal 6 foot 4 powerhouse Milenkovic this summer with the club believed to be keen on a move.

The player’s entourage, led by agent Ramadani, have apparently offered the 23-year-old to England where West Ham are suitors, but Milenkovic is said to prefer a move to Serie A giants Juventus.

The race is still open though with no official proposals made just yet and the Old Lady reluctant to mount a bid until they offload both Daniele Rugani and Merih Demiral.

Fiorentina are also said to be only demanding between €15 million-€20 million (£12.9m-£17.2m) for his signature this summer, a price tag which could even drop as August 31 approaches according to this report.

The Verdict: Do it GSB…

Taking into account Juve’s reluctance to swoop and Milenkovic’s fairly meagre price tag, this potential deal is an absolute no-brainer for West Ham.

If manager David Moyes is serious about signing a capable defender ahead of a massive campaign for West Ham, he arguably couldn’t do much better than the 28-cap Serbia star in terms of value.

Still young, Milenkovic was a mainstay for La Viola over 2020/2021. He started 34 Serie A matches whilst averaging the most clearances per 90 (3.6) out of any player in the squad with more than five appearances (WhoScored).

Amid this financial climate, possible bargains like this don’t come around too often, securing a young player who is already performing in a top European league with all the physical attributes required for English football.

A respeito do estilo de jogo do Santos em 2017, pouco diferente em relação ao da temporada passada, devido ao fato de explorar mais os laterais por dentro, usar volantes para auxiliar na saída de bola, entre outros pontos, Dorival Júnior é taxativo: não vai mudar por conta dos resultados recentes.

-Essa mudança de postura leva tempo. Vai ser encontrada no campeonato. É uma convicção minha, não vai mudar – pontuou.

Dorival ainda não pôde contar com Renato, Lucas Lima e Ricardo Oliveira na partida contra o Ituano, pois recuperam a forma física após passarem pelo departamento médico. Vanderlei segue em tratamento após cirurgia na mão esquerda.
