The summer transfer window still has over a month left to run and this means that Celtic have plenty of time left to get their incoming business done.
Brendan Rodgers has already brought in two goalkeepers to bolster his squad following the departure of Joe Hart, with Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo signing on permanent deals.
The Hoops have also reportedly agreed a £3.4m deal with Benfica to sign midfielder Paulo Bernardo, who spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Parkhead.
Rodgers and Celtic could now land a dream signing for Callum McGregor in Glasgow by swooping to sign another one of the club's reported transfer targets.
Celtic's interest in American dynamo
It was recently reported by the Daily Record that the Hoops are interested in a deal to sign central midfielder Tanner Tessmann from Venezia.
The outlet claimed that the USA international has emerged as a target for the Scottish giants, who have been alerted to the chance of bringing him after his move to Italian giants Inter fell through.
It added that the midfield dynamo, who is valued at £6m, is also wanted by Premier League side Brentford and a number of other teams, which means that Celtic could need to move quickly if they want to get a deal over the line.
Tanner Tessmann for Venezia.
The Scottish Premiership champions must now attempt to snap the Serie B starlet up before the end of the transfer window as he could be their dream partner for McGregor in the middle of the park.
Why Tessmann could be perfect for McGregor
Tessmann and the Scotland international could be a terrific pairing at the base of Rodgers' midfield to control the tempo of games and restrict what the opposition can do on the ball.
Both players are athletic midfielders who can get across the pitch to win possession back whilst also being creative players who like to make things happen at the top end of the pitch.
Tessmann averaged 6.7 ball recoveries per game across 37 appearances in the Serie B last term, whilst McGregor managed 6.6 per match in the Premiership, which suggests that both players can consistently recover the ball back for their side.

As you can see in the table above, they both offer similar qualities in the middle of the park for their respective sides in and out of possession.
Tessmann appears to be the greater threat in front of goal but there is not much between them when it comes to creating chances, making tackles and interceptions, and winning their duels on the deck and in the air.
Described as an "immense conductor" of play by Youth Scouting creator Max on X, the Venezia star could be a dream alongside McGregor as their respective qualities in and out of possession could allow them to dominate opposition teams.
Celtic could forget about Balikwisha with "magic" pre-season star
The Hoops could hand a larger role to the impressive winger next season instead of dipping into the market.

They can suffocate sides with their constant desire to win the ball back and then pile the pressure on defences with his creativity and quality in possession, which is why Rodgers must now swoop to sign Tessmann to partner McGregor.
He must, however, pay a fine of PKR 4.25 million and take part in a PCB rehabilitation programme first

Umar Akmal’s 18-month ban has been slashed by six months by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), making him eligible to return to representative cricket as the PCB had originally suspended him on February 20 last year. According to the PCB, though, the reintegration is subject to the cricketer paying a fine of PKR 4.25 million (approx $27000) and taking part in the programme of rehabilitation under the board’s anti-corruption code. The charges came under Article 2.4.4, which deals with: “Failing to disclose to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department (without unnecessary delay) full details of any approaches or invitations received by the Participant to engage in Corrupt Conduct under this Anti-Corruption Code”.Conclusions in the CAS arbitral award, a copy of which has been accessed by ESPNcricinfo: Mr Akmal’s appeal seeking to set aside the Independent Adjudicator’s decision in respect of Count No. 1 is allowed and the sanction imposed by the Independent Adjudicator is set aside. The PCB’s appeal seeking to set aside the Independent Adjudicator’s reduction in sanctions in respect of both counts is dismissed. Mr Akmal’s appeal seeking to set aside the Independent Adjudicator’s decision in respect of Count No. 2 is allowed in part and dismissed in part. The determination by the Independent Adjudicator that Mr Akmal is guilty of an offence under Article 2.4.4 in failing promptly to report the approach and/or invitation by one Maya in January/February 2020 to the VSD is confirmed. The Independent Adjudicator’s sanction on Mr Akmal in respect of Charge No. 2 is set aside and in its place the following sanction is imposed: (1) a period of ineligibility of 12 months and (2) a fine in the sum of PKR 4,250,000. Mr Akmal’s request for an order that the PCB return his two mobile phones is declined. All other grounds of appeal and requests for relief are hereby dismissed.Akmal was initially suspended just hours before the start of the fifth edition of the PSL last year, after being found guilty of failing to report details of corrupt approaches made to him. He did accept at the time that the incidents that formed the basis of the two charges pressed against him by the PCB had indeed taken place but said the circumstances were such that they did not merit reporting. He also failed to show any remorse for the incidents and said that he was not guilty of either charge.”They don’t have a single piece of evidence that can prove any wrongdoing,” Akmal’s lawyer had said. “The prosecution was based on a phone call, otherwise there is no document, no bank transaction or anything that can substantiate their claim”.The PCB, however, stuck to its guns, and the decision to lodge an appeal at CAS against the reduction of the ban is understood to have been based on the board’s attempts to stress on its zero-tolerance policy against corruption concerning players. The legal battle between Akmal and the PCB was eventually taken to CAS, where both the parties had challenged the other. Akmal wanted his ban to be lifted, while the PCB had challenged the halving of the original ban from 36 months to 18 months by their own independent adjudicator – retired Supreme Court judge Faqir Mohammad Khokhar.”I am fully ready and excited to play cricket again,” Akmal said at a press interaction. “It was tough being out and sitting at home with my bread and butter taken away. I am very thankful to my family, after Allah, and everyone who stood by me and helped me return to cricket.”I don’t want to comment on my national selection. It’s my job to play cricket and perform and it’s up to them [the selectors] – if they think it’s better for the country [to include me], then they will definitely give a chance.”
Nottingham Forest are now thought to be interested in signing a young defender ahead of Leeds United.

Rumours have continued in regards to who could be next through the door, with the club also working to bolster their academy ranks. It has been claimed that Forest have agreed a deal to sign 15-year-old goalkeeper Ally Graham from Dundee United, pipping rivals Newcastle United to a transfer.

Forest also appear to be battling the Magpies for Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez, with an enquiry made for his services, whereas Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez is another target and the club could soon make an offer for the Mexican.
Now, it looks as if the Reds are keen to sign a new in-demand teenage centre-back, but they may not have it all their own way.
Nottingham Forest interested in Bruno Ogbus
According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Freiburg defender Bruno Ogbus ahead of Championship side Leeds United, however, the German side don’t want to sell the 18-year-old centre-back.
As can be seen, AC Milan have also shown an interest in Ogbus and have even made an offer for the Switzerland youth international earlier this month.
However, Freiburg have seemingly given clubs a hands-off warning when it comes to the defender, so a deal could be extremely tricky to complete this summer. Ogbus, who moved to Freiburg back in 2022 from Zurich, is yet to make his first-team debut, turning out instead for the U19s and reserve side.
Forest, meanwhile, have five senior centre-back options in Murillo, Nikola Milenkovic, Andrew Omobamidele, Wily Boly and Joe Worrall.

Celtic have identified a potential new addition this summer, and the move seemingly already has the approval of Brendan Rodgers ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season.
Adam Idah in limbo
After helping fire Celtic to the title and scoring the winner in the Scottish Cup in a phenomenally successful loan spell at Parkhead, Adam Idah's future remains unclear. Speaking straight after the Cup win, Rodgers insisted he wanted to keep the Norwich man, who found the net nine times in 19 games after joining on loan in January.
"The board know how I feel on Adam, that was the reason for bringing him in,” Rodgers said. “He’s been a real catalyst for us, especially over the last few months.
“He’s been absolutely immense for us and he’s clearly someone I’d like to do something with."

But there has been little positive movement on a deal since, and the 23-year-old striker is wanted by new Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup.
“Like we said from day one, he’s a vital part of the group and of the squad here. Adam’s working hard in training, a good guy with good energy. He’s really doing well and I hope it’s obvious for him and everyone that he will play a vital part for this team.”
Now part of the pre-season group at Carrow Road, a move for Idah is looking somewhat complicated despite his clear desire to play north of the border. As a result, Celtic have reportedly begun looking elsewhere.
Celtic enquire for goalscorer
Now, HITC report that Celtic have had early enquiries over Scottish Premiership marksman Lawrence Shankland, who is also thought to be a target for fierce rivals Rangers. The £3k-per-week Hearts striker scored 31 times in all competitions across 2023-24, including 24 in the Scottish top flight.

It was not a fluke either, with his talents long having been evident. Speaking earlier in the season, Brendan Rodgers admitted the striker had been on his radar since his first spell at Celtic Park, during which time Shankland was at Ayr.
"When I was here the first time he was a player that was on the radar. I heard people speak about and any time I saw him in clips you could see he was a goalscorer.
"Having come back and seen him in the Premiership playing, he's a boy who looks superconcentrated in the games. He's got really good technique, uses his body well to protect the ball, scores all types of goals.
"So he's a very good player and one that we have to manage well."
Hearts attacker Lawrence Shankland.
With Idah's £8m valuation considered too high for Celtic, they are now "stepping up" their pursuit of last season's golden boot winner north of the border, and have "made enquiries" about landing the striker ahead of Rangers, with Shankland thought to be valued at around £3m.
However, they will have to overturn their rivals, with Rangers still thought to be in "pole position" for his signature. But should Celtic act fast, they may be able to hijack the move.
