RCB physio Evan Speehcly hopeful of getting him ready “soon”

Navdeep Saini fields off his own bowling•BCCI
Navdeep Saini, the Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler, has suffered a split webbing in his right hand while bowling in the match against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. He got hit on the right thumb while fielding off his own bowling, forcing him to immediately leave the field after the 18th over of the Super Kings’ chase in Dubai.A plastic surgeon was instantly called to stitch his right webbing. This puts him in considerable doubt for the Royal Challengers’ next game against the Mumbai Indians on October 28, even though Evan Speechly, the team physio, says he’d be working overtime to get him ready.”Saini has split his webbing in the last ball there,” Speechly told after the match. “He obviously got hit on the right thumb. Fortunately, we had a good hand surgeon who stitched up nicely. We will monitor overnight and check whether he can ready for next match. I cannot be sure when he is good to go but hoping he will play next match.”The injury is similar to what Virat Kohli suffered in the 2016 season. At the time, Kohli had nine stiches on his right hand but continued to play. He finished that season with 973 runs, the most by a batsman in a single edition.”Virat four-five years ago had it in Kolkata. We managed to stop the bleeding and he smashed a 100 [113, against the Kings XI Punjab] after we got a plastic surgeon who had stitched it. Unfortunately, you cannot compare the two injuries,” Speechly explained. “Some people manage it and some can’t.”It’s also because Saini’s injury is on his bowling hand, so it puts a lot of pressure on him. I cannot be sure when he will be good to go. I am hoping that he will be good to play in the next game and the rest of the tournament.”Saini has been key to the Royal Challengers’ turnaround this season. He has so far played in all 11 games, and while he has only picked up five wickets, he has been among the most economical pacers in the team, conceding just 7.95 runs an over.If Saini isn’t fit enough to take the field, the Royal Challengers’ have Umesh Yadav as a like-for-like replacement. Yadav, however, has struggled for consistency, featuring in just two games so far. They also have a spin-bowling allrounder in Shahbaz Ahmed on the bench.Only their net run rate separates third-placed Royal Challengers with table-toppers Mumbai. They’ve won seven out of their 11 games and are primed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016, when they finished runners-up. The Royal Challengers play two of the top three – Mumbai and the Delhi Capitals – to round off the league stages.

Arne Slot sat in Jurgen Klopp's seat, and it was as if he had been there for years.
Liverpool underwent the change of all changes last month, with Slot leaving Feyenoord of the Netherlands to try his hand at Anfield's helm, tasked with succeeding a lionised and irreplaceable figure.
Klopp's brood will now find the chance to stretch out and prove itself worthy of further success down the line, with Slot striving to lead the Reds toward further silverware, further success.
Arne Slot
Fans might be trying out for fresh faces but the plain truth is that Liverpool are blessed with a rounded, deep, and dynamic squad. Slot, indeed, has inherited a team with the tissue of winners.
Personable and persuasive, the Dutch coach welcomed certain members of his first team back to Kirkby on Friday ahead of pre-season, and a picture of who might be signed to strengthen this strong crop will begin to look clearer.
Liverpool transfer news
According to Football Insider, Liverpool will have to fork out £40m to prise Crysencio Summerville away from Leeds United this summer, with the Championship side having mitigated their financial concerns following the £30m sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur.
Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville
Liverpool have been persistently linked with left wingers this summer despite the form of Barcelona-targetted Luis Diaz toward the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Newcastle United, fraught by PSR, offered Anthony Gordon to the Merseysiders last week but, according to BBC Sport, Liverpool flat-out refused to entertain the notion given the Magpies hopes to include Jarell Quansah in a player-plus-cash deal.
Still, Liverpool admire Gordon, and the addition of a left-sided forward would help the club immeasurably.
Why Liverpool admire Anthony Gordon
Gordon might have cut his teeth as a young Everton star, but the England international is a boyhood Red, having been released from the club's academy during his formative years.
Newcastle player Anthony Gordon
He had his doubters throughout English football when signing for Newcastle in a £45m deal in January 2023 but the 23-year-old has since gone from strength to strength, posting 12 goals and 11 assists across all competitions during his first full season at St. James' Park, en route to the Magpies' Player of the Season award.
Praised for his "unbelievable" campaign by teammate Bruno Guimaraes, Gordon has a remarkable blend of athletic qualities and an always-sharpening quality in front of goal, as evidenced by his haul from last term.
As you can see in the graphic above, Gordon showcased his attacking quality in the Premier League last season with 22 direct goal contributions for the Magpies.
He's a top-class player, but given that reports are suggesting that he could fetch a price of up to £100m now that Newcastle have swerved past a potential PSR sanction, Liverpool will likely turn their attention elsewhere, and Summerville could be the perfect alternative.
Imagine Crysencio Summerville under Slot's management
He didn't make much of an impact during the 2022/23 campaign, young and unable to save Leeds from falling from the Premier League, but Summerville, aged 22, did score the winner at Anfield to condemn Klopp's Liverpool to a demoralising defeat, setting the tone for the season to come.
Last term, however, The Whites' return to the Championship proved to be an auspicious move, with the Dutchman crowned the division's Player of the Season after scoring 21 goals and supplying ten assists as his side agonisingly lost the play-off final.
Praised for his "world-class" ability with the ball by journalist Jake Winderman, Summerville is shaping into every bit as rounded and deadly forward as Gordon, and given that he would probably cost less than half the price, it feels like a no-brainer.

While the Championship does not hold the same overall quality as the Premier League, the wily winger's nimble, progressive style to make a real mark under Slot, whose forward-moving, energetic system calls for this kind of winger, who will create, create, create and stretch defences with his loping strides.
Therefore, Liverpool must make their move with haste; Summerville is not exactly short of suitors and he would be a real coup for a side fighting for the biggest honours around.
Liverpool hit gold on Klopp superstar who's worth more than Anthony Gordon
This talented player could explode under Arne Slot’s management.
Liverpool have been busy since Arne Slot first walked through the Anfield door several weeks ago, but there remains a yearning from the fanbase for some activity on the transfer front.
There have yet to be any incomings on the red half of Merseyside but sporting director Richard Hughes has suggested that deals are in the pipeline, with Slot presently familiarising himself with the club and working on implementing his brand before turning to the market.
Feyenoord manager Arne Slot
This is a prudent move; a fresh face might inject a frisson of excitement into the support but there are over seven weeks of spending still to occur. Time is on FSG's side.
Nonetheless, targets are still being considered, with Liverpool named among the contenders for an exciting new forward.
Liverpool transfer news
According to Sky Germany's Patrick Berger, a range of top European outfits – including the Reds – have been put on alert after Borussia Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi dumped his agent several weeks ago.
Dortmund would be willing to sell the Germany international for the right price, and Liverpool are indeed named among the suitors.
The Yellow Wall would consider offers in excess of €30m (£25m), and given Adeyemi's dynamic and positionally versatile qualities, he could be the perfect man to strengthen the Reds' frontline.
What Adeyemi would bring to Liverpool
He might not have had the most consistent of campaigns with Dortmund but the 22-year-old Adeyemi has been hailed for his "electric" pace by analyst Ben Mattinson and indeed offers one of the most frightening ball-carrying skill sets around, recorded as the 13th fastest player in world football in 2024, clocking a top speed of 36.65 km/h.
Having lost his way in the Bundesliga last season, however, it's clear that Adeyemi needs a fresh environment to build himself back up, only scoring five goals and adding two assists across 34 matches (19 starts) in all competitions.
Still, Liverpool could bring him up to the fore, having not exactly struggled in bringing forwards over from Germany in the past. Back in 2015, the Merseysiders signed Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim for a £29m fee. He ended up scoring 111 goals in over 300 outings so that went pretty well, didn't it?
max-beier-roberto-firmino-liverpool-opinion
And by taking a look at Adeyemi's metrics from the previous year, when he wasn't beset by injuries and a struggle for form, it can be seen exactly what kind of player Liverpool would be welcoming.

His fleet-footed style could see him forge an exciting connection with Trent Alexander-Arnold, one of the most influential passers currently playing the game.
The Liverpool vice-captain, as per FBref, ranks among the top 5% of positional peers across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for assists, the top 1% for shot-creating actions and passes attempted and the top 2% for progressive passes per 90.
His staggering range of distribution could see Adeyemi thrive under Slot's wing, making incisive darts into the danger area to strike on goal or create chaos himself with his goal-creating expertise. It's no wonder that talent scout Jacek Kulig has dubbed him a "nightmare" for defenders.
While Liverpool have a talented and abundant frontline, Adeyemi could be the perfect addition to add an extra dimension and provide competition to the existing number.
Imagine him & Nunez: Liverpool add £49m "pace demon" to their shortlist

A seventh positive Covid-19 test has emerged from Pakistan’s touring contingent in New Zealand. The identity of the squad member is not yet clear.Six players – Sarfaraz Ahmed, Rohail Nazir, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Abid Ali and Danish Aziz – had returned positive results from the first tests conducted upon Pakistan’s arrival in New Zealand on November 24.The latest positive result comes from the second batch of tests conducted on day three of the team’s quarantine at a managed isolation facility in Christchurch. All other tests conducted on day three have returned negative results. This doesn’t include the six players who had already tested positive and assistant coach Shahid Aslam, who will join the squad in Christchurch after completing his 14-day quarantine in Auckland.ALSO READ – New Zealand director of public health slams Pakistan Covid protocol breachesThe fact that the second round of testing only threw up one new positive case will come as a relief for the Pakistan Cricket Board, which had been awaiting the results with some anxiety, particularly after the revelations that some members of the touring contingent had breached Covid-19 protocols at their managed isolation facility. The PCB had, in fact, organised a media interaction with CEO Wasim Khan on Saturday morning, but cancelled it once it came to know there was only one additional positive case. Khan had earlier addressed the players and urged them to comply with Covid-19 protocols, saying it would be “hugely embarrassing” if they were sent home as a result of another breach. The squad will have to clear two more tests, on days six and 12 of their isolation, before being allowed to leave quarantine. Pakistan had sought an exemption to be allowed to train while in managed isolation, but that exemption is on hold pending investigation by medical authorities on its safety and feasibility. In the meanwhile, those who have tested negative are allowed to go out on their balconies or make short, individual visits to a park near the isolation facility.Pakistan are due to play three T20Is on December 18, 20 and 22 in Auckland, Hamilton and Napier respectively, before playing two Tests in Mount Maunganui (December 26-30) and Christchurch (January 3-7).
Principalmente no 1º tempo.

– Retornos importantes: Contrao Brusque, o volante Andrey e o atacante Léo Jabá estavam suspensos e desfalcaram a equipe. Nesta segunda-feira, eles votam ao time titular.
Richardson hit important runs down the order and then bagged four wickets in another impressive display

Matthew Wade returned to BBL ranks and Tim Paine sat on the Hobart Hurricanes’ bench, but it was the Perth Scorchers’ South Africa tour aspirant Jhye Richardson who maintained his dominance of the tournament to effectively seal a finals place for his side. The Scorchers’ innings endured more than a few hiccups courtesy of some useful spin from the Hurricanes and another excellent display from Nathan Ellis, however the Scorchers’ gloveman Josh Inglis put together an excellent middle order innings and was aided by some powerful late blows from none other than Richardson.Hobart’s chase was unsettled early on by Richardson, defeating Wade and Ben McDermott in his opening two overs, before he returned to also account for Pete Handscomb and then rounded off the contest by snaring Tim David. Jason Behrendorff also figured importantly by finding ways past D’Arcy Short and Dawid Malan.Spin slows Scorchers’ early hittingA fine, sunny afternoon in neutral Melbourne was more reminiscent of Perth than Hobart, and an ideal seeing day for the Scorchers’ top order after Ashton Turner won the toss. Jason Roy was quickly into gear, taking 10 from Riley Meredith’s first over and then lining up Scott Boland to set the Victorian on the path to an unflattering 0 for 48 from his four overs.Wade called on spin to shift momentum, and was well served by Will Jacks, Sandeep Lamichhane and Short after the skilful Ellis had found a way through Roy’s defence. Jacks’ first wicket of the tournament was a helpful drag-on from Colin Munro, before Liam Livingstone and Mitchell Marsh both miscalculated against Lamichhane’s leggies. A promising 1 for 44 quickly became a sickly looking 4 for 66.Ellis, Inglis duel for prominenceWith Australia having both T20I and Test tours soon to commence, there will be extra places available due to those players unable to take part in both. This should mean close consideration of Ellis, who as a Power Play and death bowler is among the more canny in BBL ranks while also having enough pace when he chooses to use it. He is a study in contrasts with the quicker, taller but not always as game-aware Riley Meredith, who went to England with the white-ball squad last year. A return of 4 for 34 went a long way towards limiting the Scorchers at Docklands. At the same time, Inglis’ tidy wicketkeeping and improving batting has rewarded the faith of the Scorchers and Western Australia at both BBL and Shield levels. Having to endure as the Scorchers’ innings staggered, Inglis was then able to accelerate intelligently while making the most of an array of different ways to find the fine leg boundary. Using both power and finesse, Inglis joined forced grandly with another international aspirant in Richardson, who hammered 29 from 14 balls in the closing overs to vault Perth well past 170.Richardson knocks the top off HurricanesFollowing a Test series that achieved little for Wade other than to take his Test batting average below 30, he was understandably hopeful of a strong rebound in the BBL – an arena that had been something of his playground on his road back to the international realm in 2018-19. Instead he ran headlong into Richardson who is close to taking off for South Africa with the Test team in late February.Wade defended a couple, mistimed a couple and cracked one fierce boundary through cover before being cramped into a leading edge and a tame return catch to Richardson, departing for just 6. Richardson followed up by coaxing another miscue out of Ben McDermott, and after a brief rest was brought back by Turner to find a way through Pete Handscomb, to that point looking very much like the Hurricanes’ best chance of mounting a successful chase.David defeated by line-ball full tossTowards the end of the innings the Hurricanes found one small glimmer through the heavy hitting of David, a WA product well familiar with most of the Scorchers’ bowlers. While lacking support, he had the Hurricanes needing an unlikely but not impossible 32 from nine balls while farming the strike. At this point Richardson, in his final over, erred on the full side with a delivery that looked very close to waist height as it whirred down towards the batsman.David threw everything at it, slicing a catch to deep cover and forcing a long wait while the third umpire Sam Nogjaski deliberated. It was a line-ball call, but the umpire eventually decided that the delivery had not risen above waist height in David’s regular stance, handing Richardson his fourth wicket for the match and 25th for the tournament. The Scorchers duly finished off the job to entrench their position in the BBL top five.
